5/30/2005

We went to Abilene, Texas for some weather updates. We couldn’t find the Kinko’s for the internet anywhere. So we gave up and headed for Amarillo, which we knew was in a slight risk area.  Nothing was firing up though. My intuition told me to hang out and rest a bit. My partner was eager to see some storm action, so we went Northward.
When we got back towards Amarillo, we got the call from my sister and fellow storm chaser, Carrie. Storms had popped up and would come close to Vega, Texas right at dark.

We found a windmill off of the main road out of Vega. Two storms were indeed present. The storm north of us fired off a great show of distant lightning, while the storm West of us waited a bit before giving us some lightning.

We headed out to try to get some lightning on film and we got just that. Images taken with Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT.  The city seen in some of the images us Vega, Texas.

Shots were with my EF-S lens: f/6.3 ISO 100 for 20+ seconds
