First storm of the season...

February 22, 2005

I knew there was a chance of storms on this day. However, I had heard that
many times since the New Year and not seen a thing! The only storm that came
close was two hours away and I was still recovering from the flu.

It was TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge of Skills) test day and stress was
high. I got home from work and crashed. A friend called me with some big news
and I walked outside to check the skies while talking on the phone.

Nice big cumulus clouds filled the sky. I was happy just to see something other than
flat grey skies. I went to a nearby park and got some sunset pics. I did
manage to see one tiny strike and that was it. I went back toward my moms
house and had to snab a few shots of the moon rising.

Then I made a call and was on the phone when I saw this bright flash. I waited all of about
5 minutes before heading to a parking lot for some shots. BOOM BABY!!!! I was
seeing a cloud alive with lightning.

I used my standard Minolta film camera and then my little Canon A75.I grabbed some
lightning shots on it and then some with film.
