Visitor Report:
Barbara from somewhere in the Bellaire, Texas area

My neighbor and I had been talking about having an eclipse party as long as a month ago, but she has 3 kids and a job, I have one kid a job and a sick father so we kept thinking about it and didn't have time to do anything.

Finally on the afternoon of the eclipse, I whipped up an invitation and my daughter slipped it in everyone's mailbox. I ran to the store and got cake and an ice chest full of drinks. I dragged my table from the den outside and all the chairs that were handy.

After dark the moon rose and it was very beautiful big and white. My daughter and her friend stood on the sidewalk and "wowed"! They brought out their dolls and played on the grass.

My yard has too many trees, so as people started coming out we moved all the chairs across the street to get a better view. We all saw our neighborhood friends, grownups chatted, kids played, dogs roamed. All the kids were really impressed. One girl was especially interested and told us all the things her science teacher had told her. Someone donated mosquito repellant. Someone brought a telescope, I had some binoculars which were passed around. When totality came everyone cheered.

During totality everyone wandered back inside, though some stayed to help me drag all the furniture back in my house.

My daughter wrote her English homework abut the party.
She was falling asleep when I said, "I have to go see if the moon is coming back," so we rushed and tumbled outside to see. And it was.
